You Know You’re a Fangirl When…

youknowyoureafangirl:

you no longer differentiate between your favorite character and the actor that plays him

I passionately and wholeheartedly disagree! I already wrote something in detail about this: http://sephira80.tumblr.com/post/23604898394/on-my-tweet-concerning-dys-loki

Some articles are just… made to make people talk about it

I’m talking about this:
http://moviepilot.com/movies/293035-the-avengers-2/stories/400967-why-superheroes-are-just-as-ridiculous-as-sparkly-vampires?utm_campaign

But hell, I still want to say some things (Quotes from the article are in italics):

“So nerds, you think you’re so cool with your little Batman figurines and Thor bobble-heads.”
- Since when do nerds think they’re cool at all? And actually, I feel more like a geek than a nerd. Because: there is a difference! Don’t know it? You can google it (ugh, did I really quote Sparky-Edward here?).

Now before you go reaching for your Hawkeye bow, think about how many girls are into superheroes and how many guys are into Twilight. Notice how it tends to split along gender lines?
Sexism anyone?

Date night contributed a good chunk, and we all know that date night is often a compromise that boils down to: ‘Fine, I’ll go see your stupid [insert explosions, aliens, robots], but next week we’re going to watch [insert romcom/period drama]!’

Funny, actually I had to persuade to-be-boyfriend to go see The Avengers twice, thrice, four, even five times. He wanted to see Snowwhite, I wanted to see Avengers again: compromise: this week Avengers, next week Snowwhite. I win, I get my movie first :D (but still have to suffer through Kirsten-one-face-Stewart… thoug I will get to see Chris Hems.. so it’s still a win if I don’t look at her face too closely).

Traditionally, superheroes and action films are boy territory.
Since when are we back to middle ages? Ever heard of emancipation? We can all do housework now, men and women! And women can be firefighters! Wow. I’ve even heard of men staying at home taking care of the kids while the wife works… Weiiiiiiiird world, right? *points at some buckets of irony sitting behind the words*

It’s the ultimate cliché: if you want to draw a female audience, throw in a love story. Better yet, a love triangle! Maybe some vampires… See where I’m going here?
I really had to look down my body now to check if I really am a women! Phew, yes, boobies still there! I’m feeling like this article is putting me into a gender crisis!

After John Carter bombed at the box office, one of the reasons cited for Disney’s unfortunate $100-million loss was that — unlike Avatar, for example — they completely ignored the love story.Sorry, but I LOVE John Carter. It was my movie of the year before I saw The Avengers! Huh, women loving films without any real lovestory?! Am I really female? Phew, yes, boobies still there! And wait, again it was ME who wanted to see the movie. I didn’t just tag along…

Little girls have their pick between play kitchen sets, baby strollers and Barbies. Little boys get G.I. Joes and toy guns. It’s the same idea.
Funny I got to play with whatever toy I wanted when I was little. LEGOs and Barbies inhabited my room, I guess now we know the reason for my crisis… I just wasn’t brouht up right. My mom should’ve insisted on getting me all pink stuff… (Please notice the irony dropping from every single letter here.)

And though admiring Tom Hiddleston: I did NOnot T got to see The Avengers over and over again because of him (sorry, Mr. Hiddleston ;) ). I want to see it every damn week because it’s a damn great movie! I love all the actor’s doing a great job! I love Joss Whedon’s work! I love the humor, the oneliners, the banter between the characters! I love that there is no very deep plot but just a great deal of fantastic entertainment that lets me get away from my everyday life! And I love Downey Jr. as Tony Stark! And now I even love Hulk because Ruffalo made him likeable to me. Yes, I love Tom’s Loki but it’s the whole package that wants me to see this movie like every single day of my upcoming summerholidays! I wish I’d have the BR by then :(.
And I LOVE that there is actually no lovestory - or worse: a love-triangle!

Btw. I hate the Twilight movies! Bad acting, bad effects! I just can’t stand it! I don’t care about bad influence or messages in books and films though. I’ve had a lot of crap and “bad influence” literature / films in my life and still turned out to be a decent person! But life’s just too short to watch films with bad actors / bad soundtracks / bad plots / bad effects. And I really do care about acting and, wow, effects… though effects are a male thing again… women can’t tell the difference anyway, right? (Notice another load of irony dripping down the letters here.)

And no, I’m not having my panties in a twist, I’m not mad or annoyed or anything… Writing stuff like this is actually FUN to me. I ENJOY this. I am a Woman of Words and such articles give me a lot of opportunities to produce a lot of words! So, this makes me actually happy!

illu2002:

“Tom Hiddleston sits like a whore”.

Agh, I can’t even begin to describe how deeply I despise this phrase. It just… reeks of disrespect to your idol and not much better than hacking his FB account.

I don’t know, maybe it’s merely a matter of mindset and language differences but to me it sounds awful anyway.

Glad some others here have some sense of decency! I sometimes kind of feel lonely on my planet where it’s just not okay to comment thinks like “sitting like a whore” or his “hulk showing” in a picture. *ugh* I feel it to be disrepsctul. Always: first think, then blog! Would you honestly talk to/about people like that if it weren’t “just” on the internet?

Less sad than feeling embarassed for them or even annoyed about things.

I shouldn’t publish anything late in the evening when I’m half asleep *blushes*, just too many typos!

Here now comes my reviewed version of my Tom Hiddleston health warning.
Because: This man really needs to come with one!

It’s in better quality.
I hope I spotted and corrected all the typos.
Changed the pictures, because I don’t like using photographer’s works for my own ideas. I’m a hobby-photographer and respect copyrights as much as I can (sometimes I cave and still work with other people’s photos…). I assume (or hope) Tom wouldn’t mind me using his photo, Loki has simply been captured from clips.
Added some more symptoms :)

Enjoy!

Suggestions: here in on tumblr or on Twitter: @sephira80

Noooooo I still spottet another typo… *grmpfgarglmpf*

May302012

Instead of going to bed early, I decided to lighten my crappy mood with something that’s fun. And what’s more fun than doing something hiddlestonian?

The idea came to me because of all of you Tom Hiddleston fans out there.

All this fangirling going on, all the people writing things like “I can’t breathe” or “He’s killing me with [insert random feature] (and actually suffering from some of those symptomes myself ;) ) made me think: “This man needs to come with a health warning!”

Since his parents probably didn’t expect him to become a weapon of ovary-massdestruction, I supposed there is none! Therefore I came up with my first version (1.0) of my Tom Hiddleston product insert.

If anyone thinks I have missed something, feel free to tweet me or to contact me on tumblr. I’ll then add whatever you think should be included in a Tom Hiddleston health warning (at least things I feel to be appropriate, I will never ever write anything about his “mighty mjollnir” or anything like this!)

Edit: Version 1.1 without typo coming tomorrow because now I’m going off to sleep!

Enjoy!

Edit:
Updated, better version with less typos also available here: http://sephira80.tumblr.com/post/24138852590/i-shouldnt-publish-anything-late-in-the-evening

“Part of being sane, is being a little bit crazy.”

Janet Long

Quote of the day 29th May 2012

I embrace that! My insanity is what keeps me sane. Right know I’m having a hard time, lots of stuff going on that worries me, demands a lot from me, stresses me out.
But then I can run to my little refuge of inner moonlight, retreat from my everyday world into a place where there exist only good things. Fangirling about The Avengers and Tom Hiddleston, good books, good films, good music. This is what keeps me sane, what keeps me going during hard times!

Seeing The Avengers for the fourth time in 4 1/2 weeks and planning a fifth (but then last!) time next week is insane. But this little insanity gives me happiness like nothing else. Once again I just came home feeling all content and giddy with joy. So: Mission acomplished! Sephira is happy and will be for the rest of the week because my endorphins are running so high that they are ging to last at leat until Saturday!

And I love being a crazy geek wearing an Avengers fanshirt to cinema and silently lipsyncing the film while watching because I now know my favourite scenes by heart :D.

The whole crew needs to be thanked, becuse this movie not just made my day or month… it made my year.
I thought the biggest movie of the year would be The Hobbit as I have been a huge LotR fan for years. But to be honest: I didn’t see the LotR four or five times! I went twice and that was it. So I think I’ll be happy seeing The Hobbit but I don’t think it can prevent The Avengers from staying my No1 movie of the year.
Right now I’m still thinking about the reasons why The Avengers got me hooked like no other movie before (apart from Dirty Dancing, but I was seven then and watched it on video tape every single day for months! It was my reward for doing my homework properly back then :) ).

On my tweet concerning dys-loki

After @HiddlesArmy retweetet my tweet about people agreeing to be suffering from “dys-loki” I got some (partly heated) reactions that make me want to elaborate on my tweet. Twitter offers me only 160 characters to get my message out there. As a result there’s a huge amount of space for misunderstandings.

What I tweeted:
I’m sick of seeing that tweet. You’re not respecting him if you only see @twhiddleston as #Loki! http://tinyurl.com/bwxl83b

What I wanted to convey:

Tom Hiddleston is an exceptionally great actor. He’s done several films, some even have been so lucky as to see him on stage. Loki is “the” role as it made him famous worldwide. Maybe it’s like with Christopher Lee who remained Dracula until he became Saruman or Daniel Radcliffe who is still Harry Potter (and I’m afreid he’ll never get rid of that image, either ;) )… There is that one role making an actor famous, the role that makes people fall in love with the actor, makes them admire him. I myself had relized and mentally “saved” Tom Hiddleston on my mental harddisk after seeing him in Miss Austen Regrets, was happy to see him as Loki in Thor and was finally blown away compeltely after The Avengers. So, yes, it was Loki ultimately convincing me, too.
Loki is a great character, he alredy is in the comics and it’s fun seing him come alive in such a great way. He has become my most favourite villain because of his acting - and that place had been inhabited by a character called Sephiroth since 1997, so that’s saying something ;). And of course, yes, he does look hot as Loki! I get the swooning and drooling, I’m right there with everyone else ;).

But after having read the article I had linked in my Tweet (the link follows again in this posting) I just got mad at that picture saying something about not being able to distinguish between Loki and Mr. Hiddleston anymore. Because that just fit right into the mentioned fear of what’s going to happen once Loki is gone. There’ll be some more films featuring Loki (afaik there was a contract for six films all in all), but in the meantime and afterwards: Who’s just moving on to the next super-hot sexy villain or hero? Right now we all (!) love Loki, we all support him for this role because it’s just the biggest and most recent one but is this going to stick? What happens to the supporting fanbase post-Loki?
Like Seph7 (which is NOT me) perfectly said in the other article:

My worry for such obsessive attention when it comes to Tom, is that much of it might dissipate, once other new actors come onto the scene. It worries me, because Tom does have talent, undeniably so, and whilst he is the ‘man of the moment’, as described in a recent article, the potential to be passed over for the next biggest thing, the next ‘man of the moment’, is high.

He doesn’t deserve to be cast aside in favour of some other newbie, who may also have talent.

For anyone who only sees how beautiful is, and ignores his actual abilities as an actor, a career he puts his entire heart and soul into, is missing the big picture. I have no doubt that he will continue to flourish and grow as his abilities mature and expand, but I expect his fanbase will diminish as their momentary crushes expire. Some will stay, seeing as I do, his potential and his talent, and it is these such fans who will continue to support him in his endeavours.” (http://www.tomwhiddleston.co.uk/to-hiddle-or-not-to-hiddle/)

This just expresses what I was thinking and why I twittered my statement on dys-loki. It would make me sad seing people just moving on and forgetting someone with his talent.

In addition I believe it is in a way not respectful to reduce any (!) person to one single thing they’ve done or their job. There’s always way more to a person than just the works or the job. Before anything else to me Mr. Hiddleston is a human being, a person. Then he’s the great actor, even an attractive one (there are many great actors, many hot actors but only few are both ;) - and I’m single and not blind ;) ). And then comes a sexy-evil-badass named Loki who was designed by Marvel’s authors and brought to life by Mr. Hiddleston! While I admire many actors, while I drool over other hot men ;), I usually only become fan of somebody who gets to me beyond looks and a character they’ve played.

I did NOT want to disrespect anyone, hurt somebody’s feelings or falsely accuse someone of sth. - ultimately we’re all sitting in the same boat here ;). Having only 160 characters just might have made it sound harsher then I had intended it to be.
